After the apparent implosion of Fleet Foxes, I thought that things couldn’t get much worse for Robin Pecknold. However last night, after breaking up with his long-term girlfriend, the folk-focused front-man posted this intensely autobiographical demo to illustrate his feelings regarding the relationship’s demise on his SoundCloud page.
“I chose the love of strangers, I chose the fickle crowd”
He tweeted around 3am that “Doing the song helped. Life is cool. Amazing friends and projects”.
Update: Robin has since deleted both the song, and his Twitter account. However the track is on YouTube…but hopefully this will be removed soon. It’s clear that whilst “doing the song helped”, uploading it for the world to hear did not, unsurprisingly.
