Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues

Typically when a new band begin to produce and perform their material for a baying crowd and an expectant label, each member is metaphorically wearing blinders, with their eyes fixed solely to the creatively arduous road ahead. It’s later on in an older more established group’s career that they might choose to defer their god-like status occasionally, in favour of solo-projects and the like.

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues (Released May 3rd 2011)

My current favourite American folk-beardster’s new album is only a month away now, and I’ve just received my tickets for their second sold-out night at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in June.

Album closer “Grown Ocean” has just had the documentary footage treatment from lead singer Robin’s video-savvy brother Sean Pecknold, and it’s a nostalgic reflection of the album’s recording process emulating the song’s dream-like and halcyon ingredients. “In that dream I could hardly contain it,” Pecknold sings. “All my life I will wait to attain it.”

Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues

Hallelujah! was the word I said in my head when Robin Pecknold informed the world of all the details for the new Fleet Foxes record.’Helplessness Blues’ is the name of the eagerly awaited follow up to the Seattle harmoniser’s critically acclaimed self-titled-stonker. Supported by a whole batch of tour dates including a very delectable appearance at London’s Hammersmith Apollo at the end of May, the new album will be released on May 2nd in UK, and May 3rd in the US.
